5 NovAs part of the Year 7 transition process, students took part in a wonderful project with Bright Torches, a company that serves to ignite a passion for Shakespeare. The project began back in July with a story-teller introducing the story to the year 6s. It then continued to run for the first half term and culminated in an exciting performance of A Midsummer Night's Dream to showcase their creativity and teamwork. The project was designed to help new students settle into secondary school life by encouraging collaboration, confidence, and communication. Over several weeks, pupils worked together to learn their lines, design the set, and create props, guided by their English teachers. Through exploring Shakespeare's language and characters, they developed a deeper understanding of the play while also building friendships and a sense of belonging within their new school community. The brilliant performance of the play was held in the school hall. The students' pride, enthusiasm and hard work shone through as they brought the magical world of fairies, lovers, and mischief to life on stage. Everyone was so impressed by the talent and confidence displayed by the young performers, who were appearing in their first secondary school production. The evening was a tremendous celebration of creativity and teamwork, marking a memorable start to the students' secondary school journey and leaving everyone excited for the learning and opportunities ahead. #acleacademy #brighttorches

24 OctYear 10 & 11 Construction: Site Visit to Acle Co-op and Morrisons Daily Our Year 10 and 11 Construction students recently visited Acle Co-op to deepen their understanding in preparation for their upcoming Unit 3: Construction in Design assessment. As part of the task, students have been challenged to design a mini convenience store for a new housing estate. During the visit, they were given exclusive behind-the-scenes access to explore how the Co-op is laid out and how it incorporates sustainability features into its design. Students also visited Morrisons Daily, where they observed a plot similar in size to the one they'll be designing for. The staff were incredibly welcoming, even providing everyone with a complimentary packet of crisps and bottle of water. The final stop was another Co-op store located near a new housing estate, giving students valuable insight into how retail buildings can complement and enhance their local surroundings. Overall, the trip provided an excellent opportunity for students to gather inspiration and practical knowledge to help them succeed in their upcoming assessment. #acleacademy #morrisons #coopuk
