Systems & Graphics

At Ks3 Systems and Control and Graphics are not taught as separate subjects instead they are combined into one module. These modules provide students with the opportunity to design and make a range of interesting products utilising skills from both subject areas allowing all learners to develop knowledge gained at KS2 whilst broadening their understanding. Students will learn to use equipment safely such as soldering irons, PCB drills and a range of other range of tools. Students will also practice sketching and drawing techniques along with design principles, digital manipulation and how to use 2D and 3D drawing packages. They will gain an understanding of a range of electronic components, their function, properties and applications and circuit diagrams. Students will also work to further develop their CAD/CAM skills in order to develop suitable cases for their products that take the needs of the consumer into consideration.
