Visit from Jonathan Lewis - DFE
The school was recently visited by Jonathan Lewis, Deputy Director of the East of England and East London for the Department of Education. In a letter to the Wensum Trust documenting his visit, Mr Lewis outlines his views in relation to the learning environment and provision seen at Acle Academy.
“ There was a purposeful and calm atmosphere in the school and in all the classes visited, the pupils were on task and engaging with the teaching. It is clearly a very different school from the one described in the Ofsted inspection of December 2015 which reflects the significant changes made to the Leadership and Management of the academy since September 2016. The Leadership Team clearly know the current position of the school and have taken quick and decisive actions to address areas of concern. Two worthy of mention here are Attendance which has been an ongoing concern has improved rapidly since September to figures which are now above nationals for all students. The focus on teaching, learning and assessment has been relentless since the last monitoring visit, which has resulted in clear improvements in the classroom.
The academy has been well supported by the Wensum Trust, which has addressed the issues mentioned in the last Ofsted monitoring report. The school is clearly moving in the right direction and is eagerly awaiting the next Section 5 inspection.”
We are delighted to announce the appointment of our Senior Prefect Team: Olivia Bygrave - Head Girl, Ben King - Head Boy, Jasper - Deputy Head Boy and Lois King - Deputy Head girl. Tommy Dade - Ambassador to represent Snowsport England
Congratulations to Tommy Dade, our Champion skier.
Tommy has had a great start to the season at the Anglo Scottish races. He had three races and managed three top 10 finishes which is amazing as he is the youngest in his age group of the under 16 category. He was placed 9th and 6th in Slalom races and 4th in the Giant Slalom. Tommy's drys lope skiing results last year placed him 2nd overall in his date of birth in the country, this has resulted in a selection as a Dryslope Ambassador to represent Snowsport England. Only the top three skiers in their age group, in the country, get this opportunity!!! Well done Tommy- We are all so proud of you!
